The client

Narrative is an early-stage startup building the next AI-powered compliance tools to automate and improve operational workflows using AI.

The problem

Compliance can be a complicated and time-consuming process that takes a lot of research. The Narrative set out to make this easier by automating key tasks so compliance teams could focus on their main goal—the company. They needed help updating old compliance methods with modern tools to make processes smoother. One big challenge was training AI to read different documents from various sources and spot potential compliance issues. This also meant designing a user interface that made it simple for teams to review and apply the AI’s findings to their existing documents.

The process

I began by exploring the daily tasks and challenges faced by compliance teams, conducting interviews with the founders who had firsthand experience working in compliance. These conversations provided valuable insights into their workflows and how they typically reviewed compliance documents. This research guided me in defining the MVP features, which included project management tools, document review functionalities, automation of repetitive tasks, global search, and document importing capabilities. The final product provided compliance teams with a comprehensive set of tools to streamline and simplify their review process.
