Designing a new way for remote teams to collaborate online
The client
Switchboard is a video conferencing tool designed for seamless team collaboration, both synchronously and asynchronously, in persistent digital rooms. These rooms enable teams to work together on shared browsers, multiplayer apps, and integrated collaborative tools like notes, sticky notes, timers, and voting widgets.
Think of Switchboard as the perfect blend of Zoom and Figma—combining real-time communication with powerful collaborative workflows. ❤️
The problem
During the height of Covid, teams that thrived in an in-office spaces struggled with zoom fatigue and the continuous issues that came with using video conferencing tools such as needing to share your screen and documents regularly during meetings.
Switchboard aimed to change the way remote teams collaborate in an online space by providing the tools and environments necessary to have spontaneous and collaborative conversations with teammates.
My responsibilities
I worked with the Switchboard team for 1 year and 9 months, during which I designed over 60 features and maintained their Design System. Collaborating closely with Product Manager Marco Iacono (formerly of Samsung and Apple) and the Engineering Team, I ensured that designs were consistently aligned with the live product and upheld to a high standard.
The impact
Switchboard secured $38,8 million in funding
